JERUSALEM (CNN) -- The U.S.-led push to get an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal by the end of the year hit some turbulence this week, as Israel strengthened its military campaign against Gaza militants while the withdrawal of a right-wing Israeli party further weakened the government of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
