An earthquake hit southern Peru early Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The magnitude 6.0 quake was centered about 448 miles (721 kilometers) southeast of the capital, Lima, and roughly 150 miles from the border between Bolivia and Chile. The epicenter was more than 40 miles underground. A magnitude 8.0 earthquake struck off the coast of central Peru in August, killing about 500 people and injuring more than 1,000 more. Link
